Check this out, as Stars forward Corey Perry gets tossed early in the 2020 Winter Classic, for this vicious elbow to the face of Ryan Ellis.

Dallas Stars forward Corey Perry will have a hearing on Friday for elbowing Nashville Predators defenceman Ryan Ellis, the NHL Department of Player Safety announced.

The incident occurred less than three minutes into Wednesday’s Winter Classic game. After Ellis shot the puck into the Stars end from the blue line, Perry followed through with a hit and struck Ellis in the head with his elbow.

Ellis was down on the ice for a brief time before being helped off and taken to the locker room. He did not return to the game with what the team described as an upper-body injury.

Perry received a game misconduct penalty after officials reviewed the replay.

No further details on Ellis’ status moving forward have been made available by the team at this time.
