David Backes of the Boston Bruins along with Tampa Bay Lightning defenceman Luke Schenn both cleared waivers on Saturday.

Backes will report to the American Hockey League’s Providence Bruins and still has a year remaining on his contract.

He joined Boston in 2016, but has been used sparingly during his tenure with the Bruins. Backes has one goal and two assists in 16 games this season while also missing a month in November due to a concussion.

Schenn has one goal in 15 games this year after signing with the Lightning last summer.
