Canadiens’ Weber leaves game vs. Wild after taking puck to face

Watch as Shea Weber takes a shot from Mikael Granlund in the face.

Montreal Canadiens captain Shea Weber left Monday’s game against the Minnesota Wild and did not return.

Weber took a puck to the face in the first period but stayed in the game. The defenceman was not on the bench to begin the second period and was ruled out shortly after.

Canadiens coach Claude Julien said after his team’s 1-0 loss that Weber avoided a fracture and he will travel with the club for Tuesday’s game against the Detroit Red Wings.

Weber did not make his season debut until late November as he recovered from foot and knee surgeries. He has six goals and six assists in 18 games this season.
