There were plenty of goals and comebacks in the NHL on Thursday.

A total of 70 goals were scored in the nine games, an average of 7.8 per game. Two games reached double figures in goals, bringing the number of games this season with at least 10 goals to 24.
The Vancouver Canucks, who defeated the Boston Bruins 8-5, became the seventh team to score at least eight goals in a game this season. It was their first eight-goal game since an 8-2 win against the Colorado Avalanche on Nov. 14, 2009. There have been five games that have featured 13 goals this season, and the Canucks have played in two of them; they defeated the Avalanche 7-6 in overtime on Nov. 2.
There has been an average of 6.2 goals per game through the first 235 games this season, the second straight season to average more than six goals per game through the first 235 games (6.1 in 2017-18).
In three of nine games Thursday, teams came back from being behind by multiple goals to at least tie the game, including one when each team (the Philadelphia Flyers and Arizona Coyotes) tied the score after trailing by multiple goals. The Flyers, who won 5-4 in overtime, had the 30th multiple-goal comeback win this season, 10 more than at the same point last season.

Seven of the games Thursday featured at least one game-tying goal, including five with more than one. There were 16 game-tying goals, including five in the game between the Montreal Canadiens, who had four, and the Buffalo Sabres. It was the fifth game this season with at least five combined tying goals, the second-most such games in one season since 1996-97 (2010-11: 7). Buffalo won 6-5 in overtime.

Skinner, Draisaitl attain 10-goal plateau

Sabres forward Jeff Skinner and Edmonton Oilers center Leon Draisaitl each scored Thursday to become the 12th and 13th players to reach the 10-goal mark in 2018-19. This season marks the third time since 1996-97 when at least 13 players have scored at least 10 goals through the first 235 games. The others were 1999-2000 (14) and 2006-07 (13).

Kane, Burns climb to 20-point mark

Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane (21 points; 12 goals, nine assists) and San Jose Sharks defenseman Brent Burns (20 points; three goals, 17 assists) joined six other players in the 20-point club this season. Kane had a goal and an assist in the Blackhawks' 4-3 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes and Burns had two assists in the Sharks' 4-3 loss at the Dallas Stars.
It's the second time in nine seasons when at least eight players have scored 20 points in the first 235 games. There also were eight in 2012-13, with Kane and Pittsburgh Penguins center Evgeni Malkin (seven goals, 13 assists) on each list.

Chabot putting up big numbers for Senators

Ottawa Senators defenseman Thomas Chabot had a goal and an assist in a 5-3 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights to give him 22 points (five goals, 17 assists), which leads all defensemen and is tied for the third-most points in the NHL. Chabot, 21, has two more points than Burns (3-17-20) among defenseman. Since the inception of the Norris Trophy in 1953-54, five different winners scored at least 22 points through 16 games: Bobby Orr (five times), Denis Potvin, Doug Wilson, Ray Bourque and Larry Robinson.
