Islanders agree to four-year deal with Semyon Varlamov

The New York Islanders have agreed to terms on a four-year contract with goaltender Semyon Varlamov, the team announced Monday.

The deal comes shortly after former Isles goalie Robin Lehner agreed to terms on a deal with the Chicago Blackhawks.

Varlamov, 31, has played the last eight seasons with the Colorado Avalanche, posting a 2.72 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage in 389 games played with the Avs.

Selected by the Washington Capitals with the 23rd-overall pick in the 2006 NHL Draft, the Samara, Russia native spent his first three NHL seasons with the Capitals before a July 2011 trade sent Varlamov to Colorado.
