Left-winger Mike MacWilliam played six games with the New York Islanders in 1995-96. He was a bruising competitor who threw his 6'4", 230lb. frame around to keep opponents on their toes.
Born in Burnaby, BC, MacWilliam played a year with the Langley Eagles of the BCJHL before joining the WHL's New Westminster Bruins in 1985-86. Prior to the 1986-87 season he signed as a free agent with the Philadelphia Flyers before spending the year with the Medicine Hat Tigers.
After sitting out the 1987-88 season due to injuries, MacWilliam spent a year in the IHL. His lack of health caused him to miss the 1989-90 season but he returned to play five years in the minors. In 1993-94 he had a major impact on the CHL's Tulsa Oilers with 16 goals and a league high 326 penalty minutes. In July 1995 he signed with the New York Islanders and dressed for six games the next season. After spending two years in the IHL, MacWilliam sought a new challenge with Britain's Cardiff Devils where he played two years before retiring in 1999.
