Predators acquire Brian Boyle from Devils for draft pick

The Nashville Predators have acquired centre Brian Boyle from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for a second-round pick in 2019.

No salary retained on Brian Boyle in trade with Nashville. The Devils get a 2019 second-round pick back in return.

Boyle, 34, has 13 goals and 19 points in 47 games this season for the Devils and is set to become an unrestricted free agent following the 2018-19 season. He signed a two-year, $5.1-million deal with New Jersey on July 1, 2017.

Brian Boyle certainly adds size (6-6, 245) to the Predators’ bottom six. Most importantly, a net-front player for a team that’s sorely lacked one for years.

This isn’t the first time Boyle has been involved in a mid-season trade. The centreman was dealt from the Tampa Bay Lightning to the Toronto Maple Leafs in Feb. 2017, helping the Leafs make a push to the playoffs that season.
