Jalen Ramsey begins his hockey training with Paul Bissonnette

With the Jacksonville Jaguars enjoying a bye week, it’s probably safe to assume that most of the team is taking advantage of the time off to relax and recover halfway through the NFL season.

Jalen Ramsey, however, decided to spend his time elsewhere, as it appears the team’s star cornerback is using this week to begin his quest to become one of the greatest multi-sport athletes we’ve ever seen.

While talking smack about basically every single elite football player late last summer, the 24-year-old hinted at the fact that he believes he could make the NHL after just six months of training.

But he also mentioned that he’s never skated in his life during that same interview with Mina Kimes from ESPN the Magazine.

At first, it was funny. Following some blowback from NHL stars, this story kind of went away. Now, we’re starting to question how serious he really is about all of this.

While taking in his first NHL game in Nashville, Ramsey was seen working on his one-timer with former NHL tough guy and noted hockey personality Paul Bissonnette. (Because who better to prepare you for a hockey career than someone that scored seven goals in 202 NHL regular season games.)

In a word, his shot can only be described as reckless. Nonetheless, it’s great to see him embracing the game.

Say what you want about Ramsey, his claims and this ongoing story, but he has brought hockey to the attention of a whole new audience as result of whatever this is.

His first NHL game wasn’t the most exciting display of the sport — a first period tally by Roman Josi proved to be the winner as the Nashville Predators knocked off the Boston Bruins 1-0.

However, it did look like he and Bissonnette were having a good time. That seemed to be especially true while they announced some exciting news surrounding Ramsey’s future with the Preds.

From here, the next step has to be getting Ramsey a pair of skates and a sheet of ice. We’ll see if the short timeframe he’s laid out in order to reach hockey’s pinnacle changes after he straps a couple of blades to his feet.
