Since being introduced as arguably the weirdest mascot in NHL history, the Philadelphia Flyers’ beloved monster Gritty has been taking the world by storm. From epic entrances to head-scratching tweets, the googly-eyed creature has become a global icon and has already racked up over 125K followers on Twitter. But for as many fans Gritty has, he also has a select group of haters.

One of which is the Vegas Golden Knights franchise.

The Golden Knights visited Philly for an afternoon tilt and managed to come on top with a 1-0 victory, and with that marked the last time the two teams will meet this season. Of course, they used that as an opportunity to take a small shot at their adversary’s biggest fan.

Come on! He’s not that terrifying! Or is he…

The Golden Knights can say what they want, but the guy’s a celebrity for crying out loud. He’s already appeared on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and just yesterday he made a grand entrance to a Lehigh Valley game by performing a duet with the team’s mascot.

#Gritty certainly knows how to make an entrance 😂 •• (🎥: @lehighvalleyphantoms)

Just beautiful Gritty!

The rest of the league should consider itself lucky that they’ll still have an opportunity to see Gritty in action this season.
