WSH@NYI: Ovechkin ascends goal list with empty-netter

Alex Ovechkin reached another NHL milestone when he scored the empty-net goal that sealed the Washington Capitals' 4-1 win against the New York Islanders at Barclays Center on Monday.

The goal was the 625th of Ovechkin's NHL career, tying him with Hockey Hall of Famers Jarome Iginla and Joe Sakic for 15th place on the all-time list. He's 15 behind another Hall of Famer, Dave Andreychuk, who's 14th with 640.
Ovechkin's goal wrapped up the sixth straight win for the Capitals (14-7-3), who lead the Metropolitan Division.

Blue Jackets roll another seven

Twelve skaters had points for the Columbus Blue Jackets in their 7-5 win against the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena. It was the third time this season the Blue Jackets have scored at least seven goals in a game, tying them with the Tampa Bay Lightning for the most in the NHL.
It was the 36th game in 2018-19 to have at least 10 combined goals (including shootout-deciding goals). That's the most through the first 366 games of a season since 1995-96, when there were 49.
Columbus forward Cam Atkinson had an assist to extend his point streak to eight games (14 points; nine goals, five assists). He is tied with Pittsburgh Penguins forward Phil Kessel for the longest active streak in the NHL.

Yandle, Marleau climb all-time games played lists

Florida Panthers defenseman Keith Yandle skated in his 737th consecutive game, a 4-3 overtime win against the New Jersey Devils, tying defenseman Jay Bouwmeester, now with the St. Louis Blues, for the sixth-longest consecutive games played streak in NHL history. Yandle has the longest active streak.
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Patrick Marleau skated in his 1,600th regular-season game, becoming the 11th player in NHL history to reach the milestone. He had an assist in Toronto's 4-2 victory against the Boston Bruins at Scotiabank Arena. Marleau leads all active players in games played.

Comebacks, fast starts continue

Florida trailed 2-0 and 3-2 before Jonathan Huberdeau scored the tying goal with 1:29 remaining in the third period and Mike Hoffman's overtime goal gave the Panthers their win against the Devils at BB&T Center. The Panthers are 6-0-0 in their past six home games against the Devils since April 11, 2015. Florida's win was the 52nd time this season that a team has won after trailing by more than one goal, the highest total through the first 366 games of a season in NHL history.
Islanders forward Valtteri Filppula's goal 36 seconds into the game against Washington was the 35th opening-minute goal of 2018-19. Two seasons in NHL history have featured more through the first 366 games: 1981-82 (45) and 1984-85 (42).
Bruins forward David Pastrnak scored his 18th and 19th goals of the season in the loss at Toronto, moving him into a tie with Winnipeg Jets forward Patrik Laine for the NHL lead.
Ottawa Senators forward Mark Stone scored twice in a 4-2 loss to the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden, becoming the 51st player to reach the 10-goal mark in 2018-19. Another 17 have nine goals with four days left in November. Ten seasons in NHL history have featured more players with at least 10 goals by the end of November: 1981-82 (69), 1983-84 (67), 1992-93 (65), 1982-83 (59), 1989-90 (59), 1993-94 (59), 1987-88 (55), 1980-81 (54), 1988-89 (54) and 2017-18 (54).
