You've seen Alex Ovechkin wire a slap shot, now watch him throw an axe.
The Washington Capitals captain was chucking hatchets along with his teammates during their day off in British Columbia on Tuesday. The Capitals, who are going through their Western Canada stretch this week, are no strangers to team-building exercises on the road, but eschewed their regular darts competition for axes this year. They donned flannel shirts and ax-logo hats and took aim at Forged Axe Throwing in Whistler, a town 70 miles north of Vancouver. Ovechkin may have been the biggest name in axe-throwing, but his squad couldn't top that of forward TJ Oshie, who won the competition by hitting a kill shot, much to the delight of his teammates Instagram from @capitals: @tjoshie7 sniping the green clutch to win the @forged.axe.throwing Championship #ALLCAPSā ā Photo Courtesy Washington Capitals
