One of the top blue-liners available on the rental market is off the board.

Adam McQuaid has been traded by the New York Rangers to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Blue Jackets are sending a fourth-round pick, a seventh-rounder and defenceman Julius Bergman to New York in return.

The six-foot-four, 210-pound McQuaid brings with him 498 games of NHL experience plus an additional 68 playoff contests, including two trips to the Stanley Cup Final as a member of the Boston Bruins.

McQuaid was sent to the Rangers from Boston for a pair of draft picks prior to the start of the regular season.

The 32-year-old made 36 appearances for the Blue Shirts, averaging 17:28 of ice-time per game.

The Rangers traded forward Kevin Hayes to the Winnipeg Jets Monday morning and Mats Zuccarello to the Dallas Stars over the weekend.

The Blue Jackets have been the busiest team in the lead-up to the deadline, acquiring Matt Duchene, Ryan Dzingel, Keith Kinkaid and now McQuaid in four separate trades since Friday.
