Lightning’s Victor Hedman wins Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP

Tampa Bay Lightning defenceman Victor Hedman was named the Conn Smythe Trophy winner following Tampa Bay’s Stanley Cup victory in Game 6 on Monday night.

In 24 playoff games, Hedman scored 10 goals, third-most among defenceman in NHL history. He added 11 assists for 21 points, tied for third-most in a single post-season among active defenceman.

Hedman, the second-overall pick by the Lightning in 2009, assisted on Brayden Point’s first-period goal on Monday, which proved to be the game winner.
